"Give me liberty or give me death!"

In our great country, the early colonists were willing to dief or freedom.

The Civil War was fought in part to free our country from slavery.

"Ha! Ha! We're free at last!"

"Great! Now you can start paying taxes."

World War I was fought to free the world of tyranny.

"At last! No more war ever again!"

World War II was fought to free the world of tyranny.

"At last! No more war for ever again ... for real this time!"

In the 60's people sought freedom from the constraints of the "establishment."

"Oh, wow, man ... like, you look sooo uptight."

"How can you tell through all that hair?"

Today people work more than ever to try to free themselves financially.

"If I just work a little harder, smarter, and longer ... then I'll be chained even tighter to this stupid job."

"What's wrong?"

"Where can I find freedom? It seems the harder I work, the further away from true freedom I really get."

"I just want to do what I want to do, when I want to do it."

"That's not freedom. Have you ever done something you wanted to do and then later regretted it?"

"You mean like about that crack I made about the boss's wife at the Christmas party? Ouch!"

"I don't know about that, but doing the wrong thing is called sin, and everyone is guilty of being enslaved to it."

"Jesus answered them, 'Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.'" John 8:34

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

"But the good news is, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to set us free from those sins.

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1

"How did He do that?"

"He gave up His own freedom for us. He died on the cross for our sins even though He didn't deserve to. Then He rose from the grave to conquer death and give us eternal life."

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit." 1 Peter 3:18

"This is the truth He wants us to know so we can experience true freedom."

"Jesus said, 'If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'" John 8:31-32

"I want to hold to Jesus' teaching."

"Then pray with me ... Dear God, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die on my behalf. I now place my trust in Christ to save me from my sin and be by Lord. I thank you for the truth of this teaching and for setting me free."

"How about you? Do you now true freedom?"

"I'm free!"
