Getting sucked into watching a late night classic only to find yourself suffering through 4 hours of Friendly Bob's used car deals?

Attending your spouse's class reunion?

"Fred here is the guy I used to share my locker with, honey! Isn't that exciting?"

A guest lecturer discussing the 14 points of Ukrainian entomology?

... And after 45 minutes, hear him say ...

"My second point is ..."

Getting stuck behind a water buffalo on wheels in rush hour traffic ...

"Come on!"

... Plus hitting every read light in town?

"This is taking forever!"

No, eternity is a lot longer than that!

"But I'm late for work!"

Ten yours from now you won't even remember this inconvenience.

"Sigh, I guess you're right."

... And ten thousand years from now, your life on earth will be just a distant memory.

"Huh?"

Yet ten thousand years still isn't even a drop in the ocean when compared to how long eternity really is.

"Gulp! Well that certainly puts rush hour traffic in proper perspective."

It puts your whole life in perspective. The Bible says ...

"For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." (James 4:14)

"Vanishes? Then what?"

The Bible also says ...

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment..." (Hebrews 9:27)

"Say, are you trying to depress me?"

"... So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;" (Hebrews 9:28)

"Huh? Take away my sins?"

That's right. Jesus died to take away your sins and rose again to give you eternal life.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

"Eternal life?"

"That every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life." (John 6:40)

"Believe in Christ?"

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

"Lord Jesus, I do believe in You, and I place all my trust in You right now to save me from my sins. Forgive me, and give me eternal life. Amen."
