I have two questions for you—two questions that can change your life forever!

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?

The definition of purpose: “The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.”

In the beginning of time, people lived in harmony with God and were called to spread His goodness throughout the world. But when mankind chose to disobey God, sin was introduced to the world and this broke our bond and friendship with God and caused us to lose sight of our true purpose.

Sin appears in selfish actions (such as lying, stealing, violence, abuse, gossip, greed, anger, hate, addictions and lust), but sin is more than the actions—it’s the brokenness behind the action. It’s the void in our heart that’s trying to be filled by anything that is not God. Only God can eternally heal our hearts and restore our value, identity and purpose. Everything else is a deceptive, “temporary fix” that will disappoint and fade away.

Matthew 7:13-14 [Jesus said] “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who fiind it.”

There are many today who are following the broad way of destruction. Rather than following the purpose they are created for, they choose to follow the deception of sin. We must not just claim we know God, but truly follow Him. The narrow way of life is following the true purpose we are created for!

The purpose of our lives is to have a personal, experiential and supernatural relationship with God, and through that relationship—bring His light (love, truth, power and goodness) to the world! But before we can walk in our purpose, our relationship with God needs to be restored. For that we need a Savior who can bridge the gap caused by our sin.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU DIE?

Have you ever asked yourself: “what will happen after I die?” Here’s one thing that all humankind shares in common: we all will die! After you die, you will stand before God to be judged for your life.

Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”

Because of our sin, we have become separated from relationship with God. We are unable to earn right standing with God and restore our friendship with Him through being a “good person” or doing enough “good deeds.” We all have sinned, causing damage to the world and those in it. We deserve the penalty for this evil, and the penalty we face is spending eternity in Hell.

God, who loves each and every one of us, has made a way for us to be spared from the penalty we each deserve so we can spend eternity in Heaven with God’s wonderful love, presence, joy and peace.

THE SOLUTION, A SAVIOR!

God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us! Jesus, the Son of God, came into the world as a baby and lived a sinless and blameless life. This makes Jesus the only person in history that would not deserve Hell.

Ultimately, He gave His life for ours, dying on the cross. He took upon Himself the sin of the whole world, and the penalty for it, that we deserve! He took God’s wrath upon Himself so that we wouldn’t have to. He died, but He didn’t stay dead. God rose Jesus from the dead—He is alive today!

This is no fairy tale, this is a historical event with eyewitness accounts. There are thousands of documents that affirm this truth, and millions of stories of people (from all types of ethnicities, religions and backgrounds) whose lives have been completely changed through encountering Jesus Himself! Jesus truly lived, died and rose from the dead! He is the only way to eternal life!

Because Jesus died as the sinless and perfect sacrifice, when we put our trust in Him we receive His righteousness. We become right with God, all of our sin is washed away, as if it never happened! Our identity and purpose becomes restored! We receive eternal life! Heaven, through Him, becomes our home!

YOUR PART!

Jesus made the way for us to be saved from eternity in Hell! Jesus made the way for our purpose in life to be restored! All that we must do is to put our sincere faith in Jesus. This involves asking for forgiveness from our sin and placing our trust in the finished work of Jesus who died on a cross and rose from the dead. We are making a choice in our minds and hearts to turn away from the lifestyle of sin and turn to a life of following Jesus. When we do this, our sins are forgiven, we are released from Hell and restored to our purpose! This is a decision to follow Jesus for the remainder of our days and to live out our purpose by allowing our lives to become living representations of His love, power, truth, life and goodness.

TODAY IS THE DAY!

I encourage you to respond to Him today. Choose to turn away from sin and put your faith in Jesus and what He did for you (dying for your sins and rising from the dead). Ask God to forgive your sin, and choose to make Jesus the Leader of your life today! If you choose to place your faith in Jesus today, then God will give you a new heart. You will be made completely clean and forgiven, restored to your purpose, and brought back to a relationship with God!

2 Corinthians 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, ALL things have become new.”

BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

When Jesus was here on Earth, He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons and performed miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit. He healed hearts, He went about doing good—He loved people!

Ask God today to fill you with the same Holy Spirit! Jesus says when we ask, we receive! The Holy Spirit gives us power to live like Jesus and share Him with the world!

Luke 11:13b “How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

BE BAPTIZED

Get water baptized as soon as possible. In baptism, you bury the old life and rise new with Christ! Besides the decision you just made to give your life to Jesus, baptism is the first direction given to every new believer!

Romans 6:4 “We were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

AN ENCOURAGEMENT!

Continue in getting to know Him through spending time with Him in prayer (talking to God), reading the Bible (the book of Mark is a great place to start), and following what you read. Another important way to grow is to make yourself part of a community of people who follow Jesus and, with them, grow in this new life!
