“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:37).

Recently, because of an older network, I was forced to change phones. This morning, on my new phone a pop-up message came up and stated I had used 131 minutes from March 5th – March 11th. So that means my phone usage was less than 19 minutes per day.

I found that interesting, but it brought to mind this question:

Could I live without a phone?

Answer: Yes, of course, but I’d rather not because of convenience and some security.

However, my so-called “smart phone” tells me that my cell phone is not that important in my life.

While not spending much time on the phone, I still realize that I am still not spending enough time with God. While I may stay busy reading about Him, writing about Him, honoring Him, preaching about Him, bragging about Him, I find I am lacking in my time spent WITH HIM.

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” (James 4:8).

This verse often comes to mind. God’s desire for all of us is to seek Him daily and often and the best time to do that is during our ‘quiet time’ in prayer.

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).

As you study the chart on the front page, I will leave you with two questions.

“How much time do you spend on your cell phone vs your time with God?”

“Are you okay with your time spent with God?”

Not sure? Ask Him.

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
