One of the most important commodities lacking in the world is peace. Individuals, families, cities, states, and nations are in search of peace in the twenty-first century. The world experiences the absence of peace from God because of three problems: sin, sorrow and death. The world remains restless and uncertain, despite the fact that several international organizations and specialists continue to search and research for lasting peace in the world. Jesus’ death on the cross of Calvary is the only solution to the problem of man and is the path to experience peace of God and peace with God.

People all over the world today are searching for peace everywhere and every day of their lives. Rich people give lots of money to peace initiatives aimed at finding peace and rest of mind. God has given man wealth, intelligence, military power, education and several opportunities, but none of them can offer humankind lasting peace on earth. Nothing in this world can satisfy the desperate yearnings of the souls of men for peace in the world. Saint Augustine has said, “You have made us for yourself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in You.” Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ in His death on the Cross and resurrection is the only means to peace on earth.

In Luke 2:14, the angels announced at the birth of Jesus that He would bring glory to God in the highest and peace to the troubled world. “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:13-14).

To the world and philosophical mind, it may be foolishness, but the message about the death and resurrection of Christ is the only means to genuine peace with God. Whereas billions of people are looking for peace on earth, only genuinely born again Christians can find and enjoy this authentic peace. When a person receives Jesus as Lord, and obeys Jesus’ teachings, he will enjoy the peace of God in his heart and know peace with others. To be born again, therefore, is the secret to a life of peace, even though the earth is full of troubles and commotion.

How Can You Enjoy Peace With God?

All over the world, almost everyone talks about peace. People desire peace, but it appears that the world is going from bad to worse, in spite of the work of the United Nations peace initiatives. International organizations and nations of the world today are seeking for peace in their attempts to provide an answer to the problems of war, the refugee crises, diseases, and displacements of people during crises. Nations and cultures are looking for guidance, comfort, and peace everywhere. The peace that God intended for the world has been replaced by wars, famines, uncertainties, troubles, fears, and anxiety. While some countries are holding summits to discuss peace, other people are confronted with conflicts, wars, and rumors of war. It seems human efforts cannot solve the problem of lack of peace.

This leaves us with seeking God’s way for peace. What then are God’s ordained steps for world peace? Without accepting God’s plans for peace, the world may not know peace. To enjoy peace with God and in this troubled world, it is imperative to invite the Prince of Peace, which is Jesus Christ, into your life and your family. This will only be possible as you follow the path of obedience to the word of God by taking the following steps.

Steps to Experience God’s Peace

  1. Accept the plan of God for the peaceful life. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
  2. Recognize that you have a sin problem that separates you from God, your maker. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
  3. Accept God’s provision for man’s sin problem and fault. “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
  4. Respond to receive the Gift of God, which will bring you into the experience of His peace on earth and for eternity.

Decision to Receive Jesus the Prince of Peace

There can be no lasting peace in the world until Jesus, the Prince of peace, returns at His second coming. In spite of all the trouble in the world, you can know peace in your heart as you open your heart to Jesus. Just as He calmed the storm in the sea, He can bring peace to your heart.

I need to let you know that God loves you and desires you to know Him in a personal way so that you can enjoy His peace. God has made it possible through what Jesus did at the Cross of Calvary to show that He loves you and wants to give you His peace. If you come to Jesus today, He will give you eternal peace in the midst of the troubled world. You only need to open your heart and receive Him. Accepting Jesus into your heart will be the best and most important decision you can make in your life, which will determine your eternal destiny. You need to confess your sins and place your faith in Christ alone. He will give you a new life, a new nature and His peace will come to your heart.
