How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation. (Hebrews 2:3)
I. How shall we escape…
A. In our ungodly state
1. “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10
2. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
B. Because of our sins
1. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2
II. If we neglect…
A. God reaching down to us
1. “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
B. Offering a free gift
1. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
2. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
C. Received upon repentance
1. “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Luke 18:13
2. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19
3. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, though shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
III. So great salvation…
A. It is a new birth into a new life
1. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23
2. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
B. Which reaches out to others in love
1. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
2. “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10
