It is no coincidence you are reading this. NOW is the time to know these 7 facts that WILL CHANGE your life!
1) Sin separates us from God
God loves you and wants to spend eternity with you, BUT every single person has committed sin. The penalty of sin is eternal punishment and separation from God. Sin can never come into God's presence, because He is a Holy God. This is why we are physically separated from God now.
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
None is righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10 (See also: Isaiah 64:6 & Philippians 3:3)
2) Why would God let you into Heaven?
Jesus (God’s only Son) lived a perfect, sinless life. He willingly sacrificed His life for us through an undeserved death. This was the only substitute punishment God would accept, so that ALL our sins can be forgiven. Jesus allows us to physically dwell in God’s presence forever.
The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
3) Jesus Christ gives you life
This is what is called the Gospel:
Christ died for our sins… was buried… He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
Believing in this Gospel saves us from hell. What Jesus did is the only reason God can permanently forgive our sins.
He is the propitiation [atoning sacrifice] for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2
Justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. Romans 3:24-25
4) Eternal life is a FREE GIFT
Jesus eliminated eternal punishment for your sins (past, present, and future) by His sacrifice on the cross. Our good is not good enough—we can’t obtain eternal life by our own good deeds.
The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5
5) Repent and believe
Repent—admit your sin is evil and deserves eternal punishment. Recognize the severity of sin and that it hurts God deeply. Turn FROM loving your sins TO faith in Jesus for forgiveness. Let Jesus cleanse and change your heart.
Believe—in Jesus and receive his substitutionary death to pay the penalty for your sins. God then seals you with the Holy Spirit and grants you eternal life. You now forever belong to God. The Holy Spirit is a mark of ownership by God. You are saved!
In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:13-14
6) You become born again
God gives believers a new spirit and new heart (see Ezekiel 36:26). You become a new creature.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
By an ongoing process of becoming holy (sanctification), true believers will hate sinful acts, and desire to please God (see Romans 7:14-25).
The Holy Spirit working in your life is evidence that you have genuinely believed and are sealed (saved). See John 16:7-8.
You have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. 1 Peter 1:23
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3
7) Eternal life is a guarantee
You can be 100% sure, without any doubt, that you have eternal life. What Jesus did was sufficient to save you. He said “It is finished.” The Holy Spirit is a seal guaranteeing your inheritance. Jesus made a promise—trust Him!
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13
And this is the promise that He made to us—eternal life. 1 John 2:25
[The Holy Spirit] is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:14
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29
Are you ready to make a choice?
This prayer can guide you:
Dear God, I have sinned and offended You. I know that I deserve to spend eternity separated from You. I believe that Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection provides the only way for me to have eternal life. I repent, and turn from my sins. I trust in You as my Savior by faith. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me the free gift of eternal life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, that I may live unto You all the days of my life. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
*Just reading these words does not gain you eternal life (you can't save yourself). BUT if you genuinely believe them from your heart, you trusted in Jesus' sacrifice to be free from the penalty of your sins! Start reading the Bible (book of John is a good start). Find a Bible-believing church. Turn from sin. Pray to the LORD!
If you died today, would you go to Heaven?
If you answer, "Yes, because I am a good person", that is incorrect. God's standard is perfect holiness. You cannot earn your way to heaven by doing good deeds because all have sinned. Religions based on good works will never save you. God's only Son, Jesus, came to the earth so that He might die on a cross and shed His innocent blood on behalf of mankind. If anyone believes in Him by faith, and receives His substitutionary death to pay the penalty for their sins—they will be granted eternal life.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him John 3:36
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
