What do you consider living on the edge?

Maybe taking a cruise? I think not—what about the Titanic? In hindsight, you would know not to take that cruise. But what if you were to go back and try to warn the people who were about to board? They would say you were crazy. After all, that ship was unsinkable, right?

Ok, how about Noah? God told him to build an ark because there was going to be a flood. At that time, rain did not come from the sky—it came as dew. So how could there be a flood? They said Noah was crazy, but God warned of a flood and it happened. It’s a good thing Noah listened.

God warns us that we are all living on the edge—the edge of eternity. You many not want to think about eternity and what happens after you die. Isn’t there plenty of time to think about that later?

The Bible says that: “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Each day, every moment, we are one step closer to that “edge.” If you were riding along on your horse, knowingly approaching the edge of a cliff, would you continue without changing your path?

If a friend were to warn you, would you at least check it out before riding on? Or would you rely on the fact that you have a great horse, good tack, and have ridden well all of your life? None of that would help if you were to drop off that cliff. 

The same is true with eternity. You may choose to ignore it, or depend on having lived a good life, but that is not the answer. 

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

However, God is: “…not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

Examine your trail—the edge may be nearer than you think.
