I was blind but now I see!

This was the testimony of a man that met Jesus. Certain individuals could not make sense of what had happened to him, so they called him and asked him to explain what happened, because they were told that the man was born blind. They acted as such because they did not believe that the man was actually born blind. They thought there was a trick somewhere, since they doubted that the Lord Jesus Christ had power to heal. They did not believe that he was who he claimed to be. But the man, not knowing their motives, tried in vain to make them see that he had indeed been healed (John 9:1-34)

This man was born blind. He knew what it meant to walk in the dark. You can imagine his excitement and joy when he could see. Others may not believe it or appreciate it but the man does. The Lord Jesus saw what he was going through. He knew exactly what the man had suffered. And while the Pharisees were only interested in keeping their positions, the Lord was interested in making the man whole.

I have good news for you dear reader. The Lord Jesus Christ not only has power to heal physical diseases, he also has power to forgive your sins and to set you free from any sin or addiction you are struggling with. We read in John 3:17 that “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Jesus saves. He says in Isaiah 61:1 that “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

If, like this blind man, you have been groping along in spiritual darkness, Jesus knows about your situation. He knows exactly what you are going through, and he wants to save you. He knows all the wrong you’ve done. He knows all the things you’ve done in an attempt to find fulfillment in this life. And it grieves his heart to see that you are not the person he created you to be. Because only in him can we be truly fulfilled. Nothing else can take his place. Not a job, not family, nor anything you can think of. You may be going to a church yet you are not saved. The reason is that you cannot be saved simply by going to a church. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can set a man free and give him peace and lasting joy. Only when you decide to stop and sincerely commit your life to him in repentance and surrender can you experience forgiveness and peace.

Even right now you can experience this peace. He says in Revelation 3:20: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Will you give him a chance?
