Everyone wants to keep fit, exercise regularly, sleep well and generally remain healthy. While this is a good idea, we can’t neglect other important areas of our lives. Let’s check to see how healthy we are in spiritual terms.

Sin makes a person unhealthy before God, so God sent Heaven’s best to be a ransom for our spiritual unhealthiness. Jesus gave His life so we can be healthy spiritually. This exchange was so we can be redeemed from eternal death and enjoy eternal life (John 3:16).

A friend shared a very profound dream she had recently. In her words…

I had a dream about God’s Hospital. I saw myself in a big beautiful hall, where there were many nurses. They were beautiful, wearing perfect white scrubs, and they were excellent in all they do. I sensed the smell of roses all around and it was beyond description. Then I saw the Doctor, magnificent in His outfit. He was smiling and His eyes were gentle on me. Right then I knew He was divine, this was God.

God checked my pulse (heartbeat) it was low on mercy. I had locked so many people in my heart, and I saw a frown on God’s forehead. Immediately He touched my heart and I felt His forgiveness flow through my heart. He said “this is the reason for your frequent chest pain.” I was confused but relieved at the rapid healing of my chest. This was amazing and I loved the quick transformation.

I complained of lack of sleep: “It’s a pattern. I am unable to close my eyes for more than 2 hours.” He smiled again, and gently touched my forehead. “You worry too much and think of things that you do not control” (see Matthew 6:27). Immediately I yawned and stretched out on the sofa, about to fall asleep.

He gently woke me up. He said to me with so much love, “Child, I diagnosed some other things about you in my Word” (see Galatians 5:19-21). He paused and focused, holding my eyes seriously yet gently: “You easily get mad and stay angry for a long time, this is called wrath. You need a lot of love in you. When was the last time you called your mom?” I could not take it any longer; I felt worthless and tears rolled down my eyes. My mom is old school and we hardly get along. Our opinions were so far apart we end up arguing every time we spoke. After college graduation and securing my job, I stopped calling or visiting her.

God held my hand and pressed on gently, His voice was like a mighty ocean yet as soft as a whisper, “I am not condemning you but only correcting you … you are also in an unholy relationship.” I could no longer look into His eyes. I felt like the ground should open and swallow me. I looked away and guilt overwhelmed me as I briefly flashed back on my boyfriend. Yes, we have been having sex before marriage and just yesterday I spent the night with him. “This is called fornication.” I heard His voice again “But this is my recommendation…” He paused and got up, giving me a while to absorb His Words. “Pray to my Father more, love and forgive anyone hurting you. Watch what you eat and how you live your life, for your body is the temple of God. Do not defile it” (see 1 Corinthians 3:17).

Finally, He healed me of all other vices and made me whole. This experience was more than ordinary—I felt complete and restored. He held my hand the second time, and I felt my inner being revitalized, never had I experienced such strength. “I still remain your Great Physician,” He concluded with the broad smile of a Father.

No matter how many physical check-ups we do, a life full of ungodliness is yet unhealthy. For a complete transformation to a spiritually healthy life, speak to God from the heart: “Dear Jesus, I come to the Cross this moment, filled with my filth and dirt. I pray for Your mercy and that You wash me clean with Your blood that You shed at Calvary. Please restore me to faithful obedience to your word. It’s a lonely world, please fill me with your Holy Spirit and walk with me, hold my hands and keep me focused on You so that I may keep Your commands.”

Follow up with a Bible-believing church where you will be further nurtured.

May grace and peace be multiplied unto you. Shalom!

Be the Best, the very BEST in Christ!
