Seeking God may seem like a strange idea, if God is always there. Even though we can’t see Him, God promises to help us out in a jiffy, so it’s no secret that He is always around.
Why does God want us to seek Him? Seeking God is a purposeful quest to get to know Him better. In any relationship, over time we have a better understanding of another individual. If we are dating someone, we appreciate quiet moments when we can simply get to know the intimate details about the one we care for. Even though God knows you intimately, He wants to experience a relationship with you and He wants you to experience more of Him.
What is there to know about God? God is more than just our Savior and Lord, He is also our friend (James 2:23) and father (John 14:7). His voice can be like thunder (Job 37:5) but He also sings (Zephaniah 3:17) about us. We often talk about God’s power and sacrifice, but rarely do we think about God’s desire to be a part of our lives. God walked with Adam and Eve in perfection, and even walks with us when we are steeped in sin. His desire has always been to share our lives, and no matter what our condition, to help us be what He created us to be.
How do we seek God? Seeking God begins with God seeking you. You aren’t reading this paper by accident. This is God’s way of saying, “Hello, I want to be a part of your life.” Prayer is the next important step. Anyone you want to know, you must talk to. You must also listen to what God says to you.
How do I know what God says? God wrote everything down in the Holy Bible. Examples of His relationships with other people, His promises to you… everything you want to know about Him is written there. And that is only the beginning.
Begin seeking God today.
Dear God,
Thank you for seeking me. Help me to get a better understanding of you.
Amen
WHAT IF YOU FOUND GOD?
Finding Christ is the first step in a wonderful journey of continual seeking:
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. Jeremiah 29:12-14
God desires to be a part of your life. He isn’t satisfied with weekend visits:
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 1 Chronicles 16:11
God is worthy of our seeking Him:
As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number. Job 5:8-9
BE BLESSED!!
