Lord, I see the glory of your art: the world! The creation of human beings, mountains tall and rugged, rivers flowing, and rising waves of the oceans. As you wrap your arms around each of your children, I shout out for joy!

The joy of a simple life is a great discovery. Rocking a baby, holding the hand of a loved one, smelling the fresh aroma of a blooming rose. These are a few of the things in life that are free and simple.

The slow pace of life—fishing from a boat, holding a sweet puppy who “snuggles” and lives the free, simple life. I walk down busy streets, seeing “rush, rush, rush.” Angry faces. Faces full of fear. What are these blank, angry faces looking for?

Maybe they look for peace, comfort, love…God’s love,

Hearts hungry, hearts heavy, hearts bleeding from the world’s woe, toil, and death.

I wonder: do city people ever look up? Ever see the moon, the stars, the sun?

Do the rushing hearts heave to and fro with burdens so full of hurt to speak a word of thanks? Who to thank? I would start with God. Thanks for a day to live, food to eat, clothes to wear. That is where I would start.

Why?

God is love, peace, joy, comfort—all the good things of life that fill the vacuum in hungry hearts. Praise His name, Hungry Hearts! He (God) is the beginning and the end of all things. Knowable.

Take His hand. Walk with Him in the gardens, in the parks, in the good times, in the bad times. He is love divine—love to receive and hold close to your heart. Take His love into your life and you will find the door of life, the path of life, the beginning of life for eternity.

Think—eternity! Never ending, always and forever for you to have. Just receive Him into your life and you will find life. Simple, joy-filled. Leaping, skipping. Your hand in God’s hand. Hold tight. You will begin to know Him when you receive His son, Jesus Christ. —Addie Anderson

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

About the author: A pastor’s wife, mother of four, grandmother of fifteen and great-grandmother of six, Addie graduated from Baylor University with a B.S. degree in 1958.
