Except God

This popular symbol of Ghanaian culture reveals the spiritual nature of Ghanaians. The symbol represents the omnipotent power of God, as well as God’s omnipresence.

While many Ghanaians would be considered religious, Godfearing people, that does not necessarily mean they are God’s children by faith in Jesus Christ. Although churches fill up each Sunday morning throughout Ghana, many of these dear people may not really be saved. This is not to say that they are not sincere in their religious devotion, but that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is something that many Ghanaians are missing out on. This could be due to the fact that many churches are so preoccupied with miracles, healings, and speaking in tongues, that little time is given to preaching the simple gospel message.

Perhaps you consider yourself a religious person, or a Christian. I wonder if the church you attend is teaching you the simple plan of salvation through Jesus Christ? Ask yourself, when was the last time you heard someone in your church share a message about how a person can be saved, and be assured of a home in Heaven? If your church is not preaching this message regularly, then it is not being faithful to the Lord Jesus, who said to His disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15).

The most important thing in your life is not whether you have been healed, or whether you have riches in this world, but it is whether or not you will go to Heaven after you die. Our time on this earth is short in comparison to eternity, and too often people become preoccupied with trying to find their success in this world. Jesus warned us to seek our treasure in Heaven, and not on this earth (see Matthew 6:19, 20).There is a danger in being “religious,” going to church on Sunday so you may seem to others as a good Christian, but all the while, you have never known Jesus personally. If you think this might be the case with you, then please hear this simple message.

Because all men are sinners, and that includes you my friend, God must judge all sin. We can never enter Heaven unless our sins have been dealt with. Many folks are trying to do good works or religious activities, thinking God will accept this, and then overlook their sins. The truth is God will never overlook even the slightest sin, because God is holy. Our sins can be dealt with though, because Jesus paid for our sins through His death on the cross. Only through the shedding of innocent blood can anyone find redemption (read Hebrews 9:22).

Here are some Bible verses that teach the true gospel message:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9)

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

These verses teach that salvation is by faith in Jesus, and not by good works. This is very important teaching to understand because our eternal welfare rests upon it! Trusting in your church, good works, or religious efforts will not save you. Admit this to the Lord Jesus today! Confess how you have misunderstood the gospel message, but now you want to make Him your only trust to get to Heaven.

If you have never received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, or you have been trusting in your own efforts to get to Heaven, then please take this opportunity to make peace with God. While you read this tract, just pause for a moment and pray to receive Jesus by faith, and confess to Him that you do not want to trust in anything, except in Him, for your salvation.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).

Once you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your only hope for reaching Heaven, then the Bible can continue to assure you of the joy and hope of salvation.

“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13).

May the Lord bless you as you place your faith in Jesus Christ!
