God is constantly telling us throughout the Bible not to be afraid. Sometimes the weight of the responsibilities that we carry seems monstrous. It seems utterly impossible. We can not hide from the giants in our lives. God says to be courageous and strong.
How can we be courageous and strong?
The Bible speaks of a boy named David (1 Samuel 17). When David came upon a giant that needed to be destroyed, he said that he had killed a lion and bear, so he knew that he would be victorious. Our courage is based on what we have already experienced with God. Learning to face our giants and be victorious over the difficulties now, will prepare you to conquer the impossibilities in the future. God is our strength and will help us overcome every catastrophe that comes our way.
How does God become my strength? A floating device in the water means nothing to the person drowning if he will not hold on to it. We must learn to hold on to God. We must learn to trust him. We must make the pointed effort to work through every issue and concern with our Savior. We are always quick to make decisions without God, but when our life becomes a team effort with God, we won’t be afraid.
How do I get God on my team? Team Jesus means that He is the captain of your life. It means that Team Fear, Team Sin, and Team Pride are going down!! Victorious teams are teams that work together. Using your strengths for the benefits of the team and acknowledging your weaknesses, will allow the Team Captain (God) to compensate for any shortcomings.
Why, then do we have fear? We are afraid when we only have ourselves to depend on. Learn to depend on Jesus.
Dear God,
Thank you for wanting to be the captain of my team. Help me to depend on you instead of myself.
Amen
WHAT IF FEAR ONLY EXISTED OUTSIDE THE PRESENCE OF GOD?
With God there is nothing to fear:
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
He will never leave you and He will strengthen you:
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
When you are afraid seek God and be delivered:
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
BE BLESSED!!
