This is the true story of Christmas,
From over 2000 years ago;
Of how God’s Son came from heaven,
To be born on the earth below. 1
His parents traveled to Bethlehem,
To be registered for a tax.
But they found no room to stay in—
No good place for them to relax. 2
At last Joseph found a place
Where he and Mary could stay.
But it was nothing special—
Just a place with animals and hay. 2
And so it was at night,
With no nice place to rest His head,
Jesus was born near the animals,
And a food trough became His bed. 2
Some shepherds in a field nearby
Were watching their sheep that night,
When suddenly they were startled
By a special, glorious light! 3
An angel appeared to the shepherds
And told them not to fear;
He had good news to tell them—
The best news they could hear! 3
God’s Son had been born that night—
One who could save them from sin!
Then many angels joined to say:
“Glory to God and goodwill to men.” 3
The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem
To see this wondrous sight.
They found Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus—
What a very special night! 3
These shepherds shared the good news:
The Savior had come at last!
Their hearts were filled with joy
Upon returning to their task. 3
But why did God’s Son leave Heaven
To live on earth as a man?
It’s because He loves us sinners,
And so He came with a plan! 4
He wants us to be there with Him,
To live forever in Heaven.
But first our sins must be dealt with—
It's required they be forgiven. 5
So when Jesus died on the cross,
He paid the price for our sins.
Will you repent and trust Him to save you,
Then seek daily to honor Him? 6
Now we see why Christmas is special:
Jesus came from heaven to save us!
Receive His free gift of salvation—
Make this your very best Christmas. 7
“Why Christmas?” is based on God’s Word—the Bible.
Please consider seriously whether or not you have received the free gift of salvation Jesus offers, and what priority He has in your daily living.
