I don’t know what you are dealing with right now but I know that there are a lot of hurting people in the world and many are choosing death instead of life. Sadly the suicide rate is increasing, especially among young people. As difficult as life might be there is HOPE. If you are feeling suicidal it is important that you get help immediately from a professional at a hospital or crisis center. There are many possible solutions; spiritual, psychological, social and physical.

First, let me remind you that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Have you considered where you will be after you die? There is an after-life and ETERNITY is forever, a long time to spend in the wrong place if you have not prepared. Physical death is not the end. You might ask “How can you be so sure?” Well the best resource in the world is the Bible because it has been proven to be true. (Check on-line—Google “How do we know that the Bible is true?” or read “The Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel.)

Life or Death

Negative thoughts such as “I hate life” DO NOT come from God! God loves you so much that He gave His only Son to die for you so that you could be in heaven.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting LIFE.” (John 3:16)

Try putting your name in this verse, to make it personal e.g. For God so loved ME that He gave His only begotten Son, that if I believe in Him I should not perish but have everlasting life. The “should not perish” in this verse does not imply any doubt. In the original Greek the format is “should perish…NOT”. “Should perish” is one word in Greek followed by a definite “NOT”.

The Almighty God of the universe can give you everlasting LIFE. “God has given us eternal life, and this LIFE is in His Son.”(1 John 5:11 NIV)

Jesus said “I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)”

“Our Savior, Jesus Christ, who has destroyed DEATH and has brought LIFE and immortality to light through the gospel.” (2 Timothy 1:10 NIV)

“Sin came into the world by one man, Adam. Sin brought DEATH with it. DEATH spread to all men because all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12 NLV)

And DEATH and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second DEATH. And whosoever was not found written in the book of LIFE was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:14-15)

“The wages of sin is DEATH; but the gift of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting LIFE: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see LIFE; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)

Hope OR Hopeless

“Now that we have been made right with God by putting our trust in Him, we have peace with Him. It is because of what our Lord Jesus Christ did for us. By putting our trust in God, He has given us His loving-favor and has received us. We are happy for the HOPE we have of sharing the shining-greatness of God.” (Romans 5:1-2 NLV)

So many, sadly are“In this world without God and WITHOUT HOPE.” (Ephesians 2:12 NLT)

“May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13 NIV)

CHOOSE HOPE!

Forgiveness or Guilt

“No one can say that he does not know what sin is. Yes, every person in the world stands GUILTY before God.” (Romans 3:19 NLV)

“If you obey all the Laws but one, you are as GUILTY as the one who has broken them all.” (James 2:10 NLV)

“He (God) hath made us accepted in the Beloved (Jesus). In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the FORGIVENESS of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:6-7)

God took us out of a life of darkness. He has put us in the holy nation of His much-loved Son. We have been bought by His blood and made free. Our sins are FORGIVEN through Him.” (Colossians 1:13-14 NLV)

“Through Jesus the FORGIVENESS of sins is proclaimed to you. Through Him everyone who believes is set free from every sin.” (Acts 13:38-39 NIV)

The Lord Jesus said to the apostle Paul “I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive FORGIVENESS of sins.” (Acts 26:17-18 NIV)

CHOOSE FORGIVENESS!

Saved or Lost

When Jesus was born, an angel spoke to shepherds and said “Unto you is born this day in the city of David a SAVIOR, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) Jesus was born to be our SAVIOR!

“Christ Jesus came into to the world to save sinners.” (1 Timothy 1:15) A man called Simeon was told “He should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ” (Luke 2:26). I pray that YOU will not see death until you have met the Lord’s Christ as YOUR SAVIOR. When Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms to bless Him, at the temple in Jerusalem, he praised God and said “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, You may now dismiss Your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your SALVATION. (Luke 2:29-30 NIV)

“God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be SAVED.” (John 3:17)

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.” (Acts 2:21)

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be SAVED.” (Romans 10:9)

“By grace are ye SAVED through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He SAVED us.” (Titus 3:5)

“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and LOSE his own soul? (Mark 8:36)

“The Son of man [Jesus] is come to SAVE that which was LOST. (Matthew 18:11)

CHOOSE SALVATION!

Joy or Sorrow

Many SORROWS come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.” (Psalm 32:10 NLT)

Godly SORROW worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the SORROW of the world worketh death.” (2 Corinthians 7:10)

True happiness depends on inward joy.

JOY is true contentment that comes from internal factors like our faith in the Lord.

My soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in His salvation.” (Psalm 35:9)

Joy comes from God, not circumstances.

The precepts of the Lord [rules or guidelines] are right, giving JOY to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.” (Psalm 19:8 NIV)

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for JOY, and with my song I praise Him.” (Psalm 28:7 NIV)

Joy comes from new life.

You make known to me the path of LIFE; You will fill me with JOY in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11 NIV)

True joy is everlasting

Those whom the Lord has paid for and set free will return. They will come to Zion with singing. JOY that lasts forever will crown their heads. They will be glad and full of joy. SORROW and sad voices will be gone.” (Isaiah 35:10 NLV)

Joy brings inward peace and outward purpose.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13 NIV)

Heaven or Hell

Over 30 years ago I remember being SO afraid of going to hell that I cried out to God for mercy. I went into my room and got down on my knees and said “Lord, I am not leaving this room until You give me assurance of salvation.” True conviction such as this will undoubtedly be followed by revelation. I didn’t see any flashing lights, but when GOD puts thoughts in your mind they are thoughts of assurance and peace. The thought that God put in my mind was as follows: “My Son bore the equivalent of an eternity of suffering in hell for your sin when He died on the cross so YOU will NEVER be punished for your sins in hell.”

My favorite Bible verses are Romans 5:1 and 1 Peter 2:24—“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ… Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should LIVE unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” “Being dead to sins” does not mean that we will never sin again, but after we are saved, sin should not be the practice of our life. After we are saved, having trusted Christ as our Savior, we will want to please Him as much as possible by obeying His words in the Bible.

The Bible speaks about a real hell. If there was not a real hell why would God come to earth in human form (Jesus) and suffer untold agonies? “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened [made alive] by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18) Jesus rose again! Jesus said “Because I LIVE, YE shall LIVE also!” (John 14:19)

The Bible speaks about a rich man who had no time for God in life and, after he died, it says “In hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” (Luke 16:23) See also Psalm 9:17—“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” And Proverbs 15:24 –The way of LIFE is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. (Proverbs 15:24)

“O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!” (Deuteronomy 32:29)

“This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11)

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
