It’s exciting to search for Easter eggs!

Some brightly colored eggs are easy to spot in the green grass, but other eggs are harder to find. They might be up high or hidden very well. We keep searching, because we can’t wait to find out what treats are waiting for us inside each egg.

Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Easter?

The answer is easier to find than searching for hidden eggs! God’s book, the Bible, makes it easy to know the truth. There we read about Jesus, God’s Son, who came to earth for you and for me. The Bible tells us that all of the bad things we do (or say, or even think) keep us from God. So, Jesus came to solve the problem. He came to give us a new heart so we can spend forever with God in Heaven.

The Bible puts it this way: “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

So, what did Jesus do for us? He died to take the punishment for the wrong things we have done. It’s sad to think that Jesus had to die, but after three days in a tomb, He rose from the dead. Jesus is alive! What a reason to celebrate!

What can Easter eggs remind us of?

Easter eggs can remind us of the empty tomb. Once we open an egg and remove the treats, the shell is empty. In the same way, when Jesus came back to life, He left behind an empty tomb! “He is not here: for He is risen” (Matthew 28:6).

Searching for eggs reminds us that God wants us to search for Him so we can know all about Him and how He wants us to live. He says, “Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).

Eggs also make us think of new life, like when a baby chick hatches from its shell. At Easter, we should remember that God offers us new life through trusting in His Son, Jesus Christ! “In Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away … all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus is alive and we can find new life through Him—that is eggcellent news!
