The word of God, the Bible, tells you that God knows all about you. He knows where you live, He knows your name, He even knows the thoughts and the secrets of your heart (Hebrews 4:12-13). “The Lord looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

Yes, God knows all about you. He knows the good and bad things in your life. All the bad things are sin. To disobey is to sin. No one has to tell us how to be bad, we just are bad. The word of God says, “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). You see, you are a sinner and God says, “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This death means to be separated from God and suffer in Hell for ever and ever.

Is there anything you can do to get rid of your sin by yourself? God says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). There is only one way to be saved, one way to have your sins forgiven.

The Bible tells us what that way is: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

What does that mean? “For God so loved the world.” “The world” includes you. Put your name in the blank. “For God so loved _______________ that He gave His only begotten Son.” The Lord Jesus Christ is God’s Son. Jesus came from His home in heaven to this earth to be born, grow up, and then to die on the cross to take your place so you would not have to suffer the punishment for your sin. Jesus was totally without sin so He is the only one who could ever take your place.

“That whosoever believeth in Him.” “Whosoever” includes you. If you admit before God that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus died to take your sins away, God will cleanse your heart from sin and make you His child. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” To believe is to receive Jesus, to accept Him as your Savior and trust Him with all your heart.

“Not perish but have everlasting life.” When you repent (admit you’ve been going the wrong way) and receive Jesus as your Savior, you will become a child of God. Your sin will be forgiven, and you will live forever in Heaven. “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish” (John 10:28).

Why not receive Him right now? From your heart, in your own words, tell God that you know you are a sinner and that Jesus died for you and rose again. Trust Jesus to be your Savior and to wash your heart clean from sin. He will hear you and save you.

When you become a child of God, you are a “new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You have new desires. You will want to know more about Him, please Him, and tell others about Him.

You can know more about God by reading His word, the Bible. You can share your joys and problems with Him in prayer. You can grow and serve by joining with other believers in a local church. You can find someone and tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ and how He gave you a clean heart. This is the way to become a strong Christian.

Yes, there is only one way to be saved. The Bible says, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 16:25). The Bible also says, “How can we know the way? Jesus saithI am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:5-6). Which way are you on—the way of eternal death or life?
