Hello. My name is Walter and this is a short testimony of my life.
From an early age, I have struggled with many different needs—some of these needs are emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.
My life began on October third of 2000, in the small town of Sanford, NC. This is the day I was born. I also have an older brother. His name is David Jr. He is named after our dad. My mom, however, named me after my grandfather. His name is Walter Allan Yoho. He is a great man of God.
Not only is my grandfather a minister of the Word, but he is also a Bible teacher. He enjoys writing many different books and booklets about the Bible. Seeing this has often inspired me to one day write a book of my own.
Because of the many different emotional and behavioral difficulties that I have faced, I often required an extra amount of care. This was usually more care than what my parents were able to provide for me at home.
So, at the age of eleven, I was sent to live in a group home with other kids who shared many of the same needs as I did. These group homes were different from the home my brother and I were raised in by my mom and dad.
Later on, when I became an adult, I went to live in another group home. There, they had other adults who were a lot like me. The group home I live in now has a day program where I can go to learn new things.
At these special places, I have my own bedroom. I have lots of friends. And I have a friendly staff. The staff will help me out with many different things I need throughout the day.
I love my family. I love all my friends. And I love the staff workers at my group home.
Everybody that I know has done a lot of nice things for me. And I look forward to talking to my grandparents who call me every day.
Everybody cares about me. They want me to be happy. They want to see me become successful in life. They all want what’s best for me. I love them all. They mean a lot to me. Still, life is hard.
Growing up, because I had a disability, I was often bullied by the other kids. When this happened, I didn’t know what to do. I sometimes got in trouble, and the teacher would send me home from school.
At times, I did some things I shouldn’t. I did not mean to. I made some bad decisions. We all do. I have good days. And I have bad days. Still, I work hard every day to do better and become the person I was meant to be.
Life wasn’t easy. I was bullied. And I got picked on a lot. Yet I remember how Jesus was crucified. People talked about Jesus while He was on the cross. Still, He shed his blood for our sins.
I want to inspire others. I want to tell them that life is serious. But never give up. I want people to know that God loves them. And that we ought to love Him because He first loved us (see 1 John 4:19).
Sometimes, I feel sad when I think about those who have gone on before me. And how much I miss them. We will all die one day. It is a part of life. It is something we have to face. But there is hope.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He then rose again on the third day and is now with His Father in Heaven. If you believe in Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the cross, repent of your sins, and put your trust in Him, then you, too, can spend eternity in Heaven someday. I hope I will see you there.
If you are truly sincere in wanting to become a Christian and you want to live for Jesus Christ, you can start off by praying something like this:
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and am in need of repentance. I can’t save myself. But I know that You died on the cross to save me from my sins. I believe in what You did for me, and I put my trust in You. Please come into my heart and help me live for You. Amen
