You are what many would view as only a “minor” sinner. You might even make the “church lady” proud! You seem to try pretty hard to do good things and avoid doing bad things.
However, unless you can answer “yes” to the next question, you will not be going to heaven.
Many would consider you to be a “moderate” sinner. You have done a few bad things, and don't seem to try very hard to do good things.
The only way you will go to heaven is if you can answer “yes” to the next question.
You are what church-goers would call a “hard-core” sinner. You have regularly done bad things, even some very bad things.
You have no chance of going to heaven unless you can answer “yes” to the next question.
Here is the all-important question ...
Have you repented before God and trusted Jesus Christ to be your Savior?
To repent means to have a “change of mind,” to give up our own thoughts about ourselves and to agree with God when He says “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). This is a hard thing for many people to accept, insisting that the good things they do will in some way overcome their faults. But repentance owns up to the fact that even the things we consider to be “good works” are nothing better than filthy rags in God's perfect and holy sight (Isaiah 64:6).
In addition to having the wrong view of themselves, many people also have the wrong view of God. They think that He is a vengeful, angry God, just waiting for a chance to judge them. However, the truth is that God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). In fact, His love for us is so great that He "gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). God’s Son, Jesus Christ, came to this world to bear the judgment for our sins “in His own body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24), enduring the punishment that we rightly deserve. It is because of what He did on the cross of Calvary that He can say, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” and “come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (John 14:6; Matthew 11:28).
Do you agree that God's assessment “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” applies to you? (Romans 3:23). Have you come to Jesus, accepting by faith that His death on the cross was for you, that He died for your sins and rose again? If so, then the Bible says that you have “passed from death unto life,” and will spend eternity with Him in heaven!
Here are some Bible verses that tell the way to Heaven.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9).
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3,4).
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:12,13).
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36).
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: ... For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:10;23).
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9,10).
“And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:30,31).
“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:5).
“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent“ (Acts 17:30).
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6).
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:9,10).
