It's difficult to believe in something you cannot see or fully understand. However, many of us are not mechanics, yet we expect our car to start every morning. We are not carpenters, yet we do not examine each nook and cranny of a chair before we sit down. As we approach it, we anticipate that it will do what it has always done or it will do what the advertisement said it would. That is expectant anticipation. Faith is expectant anticipation.
Is faith important to God? If we do not believe in God, He can not be a part of our daily lives. Faith affects everything we think, say and do. Much like children anticipate Christmas, we must live lives that anticipate the movement of God. God said it, so it must be true. It doesn’t matter how or when, it is impossible for Him to lie. If He spoke a word like He spoke to creation in the beginning, it WILL come to pass.
What will faith in God do for me? Faith helps you to overcome concerns in your life. Your belief that God is your help will show when you communicate your concerns to Him. Faith reveals God’s character in you. When you operate with the full knowledge that no matter how difficult things are, God is in control, people will not anger you as much, you will find peace in hardship, and dark days will always be followed by light. With this knowledge kindness and love come easier.
How can I increase my faith? Faith is an act of reflection and practice. Reflect on what God has done for you. Recall how difficult situa- tions seem to miraculously work out. Often times we never thought we would get to the end of that dark tunnel, but somehow there was light at the end. Thank God for it. Thank God for everything, even the little things. Expect Him to do it again. Not just in small ways, but in miraculous ways. Now let us live in anticipation of God’s next move!
Dear God,
Thank you for what you have done. Help me to recall those things so my faith will increase. Amen
WHAT IF MY FAITH WAS AS SMALL AS A MUSTARD SEED?
A little faith is enough faith to start with:
And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you. Luke 17:6
We get faith by studying the Word of God:
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17
Salvation depends on our faith:
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
If you find that you are lacking in faith, know that even the Apostles needed more. When you need more faith ask for it:
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” Luke 17:5
BE BLESSED!!
