1. The Problem: Sin
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Sin is anything we say, do, or think that is displeasing to God. We all sin. Because of this, we cannot enter Heaven.
Heaven is a place where God lives. He is pure and holy and only those who are without sin can enter.
2. The Penalty: Death
“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
Because the first man, Adam, sinned, we all will die someday. Wages are things we earn and we all earn death. But what happens to us after death?
We can’t enter Heaven because of our sin. The only other alternative is Hell, which is a place of eternal punishment and separation from God.
3. The Payment: Jesus died for our sins
“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3).
Our sin deserves to be punished. But we can never pay the penalty for it since we are sinners. So God came to earth in the form of a man—Jesus Christ. Because He was God, He lived a perfect sinless life and freely went to the cross and died in our place.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
4. The Promise: Eternal Life
“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
Jesus didn’t stay in the grave. On the third day He rose from the dead, proving once again that He was God. By repenting of our sins and placing our trust in Jesus, we have eternal life with Him in Heaven.
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Find a church that believes and teaches that the Bible is the Word of God. They should have a Sunday School class and other times of teaching about the Bible. They will encourage you to be baptized and to follow everything that Christ commanded.
