Can we humans get into heaven?

The scripture says, “Thou [the LORD] art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity” (Habakkuk 1:13). What does God say about the human condition? “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you” (Isaiah 59:2). “God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 53:2-3).

The scripture condemns all under sin.

“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not” (Ecclesiastes 7:20). “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). If we don’t receive forgiveness for our sins, we will ultimately suffer the penalty of eternal death in hell. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).

But praise God, there is a way of salvation! “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

How can Jesus save you?

Well, the Lord appointed a way for sinners to be reconciled to Himself. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul” (Leviticus 17:11). This same Jesus, the Son of the Living God, came to this earth about 2000 years ago and became a Man, so that He could pay for the sin of the world. John the Baptist said of Jesus “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Jesus came to the world for that very purpose, to become a sacrificial lamb, shedding His blood to pay for your sins and for mine. God was so satisfied with the sacrifice of His Son, that He raised Him from the dead the third day, to live forevermore! “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it” (Acts 2:24).

If we simply repent of our sins and place our faith in Jesus the Christ for our forgiveness, trusting in His finished work on the cross, we shall be saved. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9). “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Jesus is the only path to salvation.

There is no other way into heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

So, I challenge you today to place your faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, trusting Him alone and freeing yourself from the burden of your sins. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). The Lord has promised in His word, “him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).
