Do you ever feel discouraged and dissatisfied? Do you ever have feelings of unrest and fear of the future? Does the thought of death and the hereafter haunt you?
There is a way to have continual peace, joy and happiness in your life. You can lose all fear of man and what the future may bring. Even death can be made to lose its terror for you.
You can know what it means to have joy and peace in your heart instead of fear and dismay—to wake up in the morning without fear for the day, knowing that God will take care of you and guide you each moment.
You ask how all this is possible? It is brought about by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, and then letting Him abide in you as your Lord, feeling His controlling presence in your heart day by day.
“Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
“For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not, I will help thee” (Isaiah 41:13).
This doesn’t mean joining a church and repeating a creed and then thinking that you are following Christ. Too many people try that to no avail. No, the only way to find real joy and peace is to trust Jesus Christ with your whole heart and soul. Get your eyes off any church and put them on Jesus, who died for you and rose again.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other Name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
Pray and read the Bible, and believe it from cover to cover. You may not understand it all, but take it by faith as God’s inspired word and don’t let anyone tell you what part of it to accept and what not to accept.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
When people tell you that the Gospel is old fashioned, remember that God does not change and neither does His word.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
Get down on your knees and humble yourself before God, asking Him to be merciful to you a sinner. Repent of your sins, praying God to wash them away by the precious blood of Jesus shed for you on Calvary. Then, if you are really in earnest, He will come in and will marvelously change your whole life. Then you will begin to realize the wonderful love of God, in giving His own Son to die for you.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19).
“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Oh what joy comes in when Jesus really enters your life. Do you realize that there is no death for those who accept and follow Christ? That when their lives end here, they go right to paradise, to be with Him? Do you know that there is no judgment day for them, because Christ died for their sins on the cross?
“He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).
“And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).
It may be hard to believe that a real change will be wrought in your life, but after you have believed on Jesus, you will understand. Until you trust Him as your Saviour, you are still in darkness and cannot understand. After you are saved, you begin to understand God’s wonderful plan of salvation and then the peace and joy comes in.
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:12-14).
Christians have no need to worry, when they know that the whole power of God, the Creator of the universe, is back of them, watching over them and taking care of them. Glory to God for the assurance, peace and joy that He brings.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1).
“Peace l leave with you, My peace I give unto you” (John 14:27).
“If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
“All things work together for good to them that love God” (Romans 8:28).
But if you reject Jesus Christ, remember that you are already condemned before God. There will be no eternity in heaven for you—nothing but judgment and hell. This is not pleasant to think about, but it is God’s own word. There is no salvation except in Jesus.
“But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).
Oh, won’t you consider this vital question, and accept Jesus as your personal Saviour now, while you still have time? You do not know what minute He may come back to earth to claim His own, or at what minute you may be called away, and then if you have not believed on Him, it will be too late. You will be lost for eternity. The day of grace will be past for you.
“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
“Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).
Surrender yourself to Jesus and experience the new birth of the Spirit, with all the joy and peace that it brings.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand” (John 10:27,28).
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” (Romans 15:13).
