A journey worth living…

When youthful dreams become an old timer’s memories… My painting on this cover is an illustration of a life that has come to the end of earthly travels. The old wagon wheels with missing spokes rolled many miles from east to west crossing flat lands and mountain heights, finally arriving on the hill of dreams. It reminds me of the days of strength and vitality driving me on to reach the ultimate rest that God set for me in eternity. Life as an artist and pastor has been very rewarding as spiritual aspirations have given me a clear and wise perspective, keeping this world’s endeavors in check.

I was told by a high school graduation speaker to “dream big and hitch my wagon to the stars.” Now that I am much older, I will soon graduate from my life here on earth. My youthful dreams have become memories as I prepare to move beyond the stars to my Heavenly home. I will depart from my earthly house and the old wagon on the hill. It has been said, “You can’t take it with you.”

It gives me much pleasure to tell you that I have strived to do what King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 12:1, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth…” Instead of the stars, I yoked up with Jesus Christ at the young age of eleven. My wagon has traveled through many rough mountains and valleys, but the Lord has pulled me through it, one journey at a time. It has been a great ride, and the end will prove to be greater than the beginning.

Today, I want to challenge you to “hitch your wagon” to Jesus Christ. Life is like a vapor, here and gone before you know it. The most important thing is to know where your spirit will be when your body ends up like the wagon on the hill, at the end of its earthly travels. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on Calvary’s hill, rising from the dead after three days to live again as He promised. This living Lord Jesus Christ can save you and give you a life worth living. Will you ask Him to be your Savior today?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
