Life’s most important question - Where will I go when I die? The Bible says “… it is appointed unto men once to die but after this the Judgment.” The question is: Where will we spend eternity? Heaven or hell? Just as an x-ray reveals a life threatening disease and need for a cure, the Ten Commandments reveal our sin and need of God’s forgiveness. Consider this: In God’s eyes if you tell one lie then you are a liar. If you have taken one thing that belongs to someone else, then you are a thief. God calls it blasphemy when you take His name in vain by using it lightly or as a cuss word? Jesus taught that if you even look with lust, you have committed adultery in your heart. Are you guilty of any of these? If you are found guilty on Judgment Day, according to the Bible, you will end up in hell. That’s not God’s will. He has provided you a cure for the disease of sin. God loves you so much that He sent His Son Jesus to suffer and die on the cross to take the punishment for your sin. It’s as simple as this: You broke
God’s law but Jesus paid your fine so that you could be declared not guilty on judgment day. Romans 6:23 says “… the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Eternal life is the gift of God therefore it cannot be earned either through good works or religion. Our sin debt was paid in full by the blood of Jesus. What He requires of us is that we put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We make Him our Lord by turning from sin with a desire to follow and obey Him in everything we do. We make Him our Savior by trusting His death on the cross alone as payment for our sin. Is Jesus your Lord and Savior? The answer to this question has eternal consequences. Pray something like this from your heart: Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin and rose from the grave to purchase a place for me in Heaven. I now turn from my sin and put my faith in Jesus alone as my Lord and Savior.
Amen.
