Everyone enjoys hearing good news! The Gospel of Jesus Christ means just that, good news. It is best defined by who Jesus Christ is, and what He did.

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

So why does the Gospel of Jesus Christ need to be heard? And why is this good news for you? Here is the reason.

First of all, knowing that Christ died for our sins is very important. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12). All are under the wrath and condemnation of God because of sin. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8).

Second, Jesus is the only way. He said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). “God was manifested in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16). Jesus, “Who committed no sin”(1 Peter 2:22), was the only one to ever live a perfect sinless life. He died a substitutionary death on the cross for all sinners. Jesus Christ went to the cross taking our place and paying the debt we owe to God for our sin. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Third, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is proof of the power of God. Only God who created life can resurrect it after death. “Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him” (Romans 6:9). “For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God” (Romans 6:10). The “gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Finally, Jesus Christ’s death on the cross paid for the sin of all men. Through His death and resurrection, eternal life is provided to all who believe. It is a free gift of salvation to all mankind. What better news to be heard in all the world!

After hearing the good news of the Gospel and its essential elements you are now invited to respond to its offer of salvation. Now is a very important moment. Do you believe that when Jesus died, He paid the penalty for your sin and that He now longs to be your personal Savior? Will you receive Him as such? Here is how.

First, you must acknowledge your personal sin against God and repent. Repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change in actions. It is turning from sin towards God, seeking His forgiveness. God “commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).

Second, you need to believe the Gospel. “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Third, stop and ask the Lord Jesus to save you now. “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved’” (Romans 10:13).

Fourth, trust the Lord Jesus Christ to save you. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). Depend by faith on Him to forgive all your sins, to change your life, and give you eternal life as He promised. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
