The Bible gives us the account of the Good Samaritan.

First we see a man who had an obvious problem.

Luke 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

Then we see that a certain priest (a type or picture of religion) who wouldn’t help him.

Luke 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Next we see a Levite (a type or picture of the law) who couldn’t help him.

Luke 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

Finally, we see a certain Samaritan (a type or picture of Christ) who did help him.

Luke 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him.

The question posed by this account was, which one of these three was neighbor to this needy man.

Luke 10:36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

Luke 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Now please answer this question honestly, in your heart.

On your daily routine what are you more likely to do when you see those who greatly need the Lord?

A. Laugh or shake your head in disbelief and walk on by.

B. Avoid them and talk about how bad this world is getting using them as examples.

C. Attempt to witness to, or pray with, or pray for, that person that stood out to you.

D. More A and B than C.

The problem with our nation might not be that hard to figure out if we’re all honest about our soul winning efforts!
