The Life You Were Made For
For years, I was searching for something to make life feel meaningful. I chased money, success, relationships, substances, hobbies, and other distractions. Some made me happy for a moment, but the emptiness always came back.
My life wasn’t terrible. I had people I loved, good memories, and plenty of reasons to laugh. But underneath it all, I still didn’t know what I was living for. I certainly wasn’t living for God. I kept crossing my own moral lines. I drank, struggled with lust, smoked, vaped, lied, gossiped, and lived with jealousy.
One night, after taking too many edibles, I had a severe panic attack and thought I was dying. I begged God to let me live and promised I would change.
I didn’t. I continued living for myself, often looking for worth in relationships. I needed people to make me feel loved, wanted, and valued.
Then, at 20, the closest relationship I had ever had ended. It felt like part of me went with it. Depression and anxiety overwhelmed me, and I kept reaching for anything that might fill the emptiness.
But in June 2021, everything changed. I encountered Jesus Christ. And my life has never been the same. My eyes were opened, my heart began to change, and it felt like I had been woken up for the first time. I realized Christianity wasn’t just a religion, church service, or list of rules. Jesus was alive—and I could actually know Him.
God began showing me how much of my life had been ruled by selfishness. I had made life about me and allowed my value to be determined by people instead of God.
I began to understand that true Christianity is about knowing and following the living person of Jesus Christ, becoming more like Him, and living for something greater than yourself.
Jesus freed me from depression, anxiety, and years of addiction. I began finding my value in God’s love instead of people. Fear began to break, and a whole new reason for living came alive in my heart.
I realized this was the life I was made for—to know the God who made me, walk closely with Him, and live for a purpose greater than myself. Jesus truly saved my life!
The Life You Were Made For!
Wherever you are in life, you need Jesus. You were made to know God—to experience His presence, walk closely with Him, and allow His love to shape the way you love others.
But sin has broken that relationship. Without Jesus, we are separated from the God who made us, lost in our sin, and missing the purpose we were created for.
Sin is more than bad behavior. It is choosing our own way instead of God’s. It hurts us, hurts others, separates us from Him, and ultimately brings judgment. We have all sinned, and we cannot erase our guilt by becoming better people, doing more good, going to church, or trying harder. Left to ourselves, we stand guilty before God and face the reality of judgment and hell.
But God did not leave us there. He came to rescue us.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16
God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. Jesus was born as a man—fully human while remaining fully God—and He lived the perfect, sinless life none of us could live.
Though He was without sin, Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross for us. He took the sin of the world upon Himself, bearing the judgment our sin deserved so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God.
But He did not stay dead. Three days later, He rose from the dead. Jesus is alive today! Because of what Jesus has done, you can be forgiven, made new, restored to God, receive eternal life, and begin walking in the purpose God created you for.
This is the life you were made for! A life of knowing Christ, walking with Him, and fulfilling your God-given purpose by loving God and loving others.
What Do You Need to Do?
Put your faith in Jesus Christ. Recognize your need for a Savior, turn from your sin, and trust Him to forgive you and make you new. True faith is more than believing facts about Jesus. It means trusting Him, repenting, and choosing to follow Him.
To repent means to have a change of heart and mind that leads to a change of direction. You turn from living life your own way and begin a new life with Christ.
If you are ready to turn to Jesus, talk to Him. I promise you, He wants to hear from you.
You do not need perfect words. God cares about what is truly happening in your heart. The prayer below is simply a way to express your faith, repentance, and desire to follow Jesus. If these words reflect what you genuinely want to say to God, make them your own and pray sincerely:
“Father God, I know I have sinned and lived life my own way. I believe You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sin and put my faith in Jesus. Forgive me, wash me clean, and make me new. Jesus, I confess You as my Lord and Savior, and I choose to follow You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me live the life You created me for. Amen.”
If you have genuinely turned to Jesus in faith and repentance, you have made the best decision of your life! But don’t let this be just a one-time moment. Let it be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Him, one where you continue to grow, learn His ways, and become more like Christ. In Jesus, you are made new. Your past no longer defines you, and a new life with God has begun.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
I encourage you to get water baptized as soon as you can. Baptism is one of the first ways we respond to Jesus in faith and obedience. In baptism, you bury your old life in the water and rise to walk in new life with Him.
And don’t stop there. Continue following Jesus. Spend time with Him. Read the Bible. Pray. Surround yourself with other believers who follow Him. Learn His ways and keep growing in your relationship with Him.
This is the life you were made for! To know Jesus. To walk with Him. To become who He created you to be. And to live a life through Him that reaches far beyond yourself.
The life you were made for begins with knowing the One who made you.
