The need for salvation

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”

God’s law requires that all sin is judged. Our good deeds cannot take away our sin. Our sin makes us enemies of God and will condemn us to everlasting fire in hell. We all need God’s salvation. Romans 3:23    Hebrews 9:27

Behold the Lamb of God

Jesus said that, “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” Jesus left heaven and was born as a man, yet He knew no sin at all. Jesus lived a perfect life, yet suffered an excruciating death, and was buried. The Bible says Jesus suffered this death as punishment for all of our sins, to take our sins away, so that God could forgive us. “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.” “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 3:17    1 Peter 3:18    Romans 5:8

He is risen!

Three days after being buried, God raised Jesus Christ back to life. This proves that the blood of Jesus has been accepted by God as payment for sin and your forgiveness has been purchased. It also proves that He is God’s anointed Judge when both the saved and the lost are physically resurrected and sentenced to either paradise or the lake of fire.

Born again

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”

When a person receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, God causes that person to be ‘born’ spiritually, just as we were born physically into this world. Jesus said, “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Being born again is necessary for salvation, and it is the start of new, everlasting life in God’s family.

Ezekiel 36:26-27    John 3:3

Resurrection life

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

When the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, you’ll share in the powerful, victorious life of Jesus Christ Himself. We also have full access to God’s presence and a new, living way of fellowship with God. He promises to be our God, never leaving us or forsaking us. When a believer dies, they instantly go to heaven to be with Jesus, and one day we will be physically raised from the dead with a new, immortal body to reign with Christ in paradise forever. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 1 John 5:4    2 Corinthians 5:17

What must I do to be saved?

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” To repent means to sincerely turn from sin to obedience to God. God also wants us to have assurance that He finished the work of salvation on the cross and He wants us to trust in His blood alone.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works...” “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” We all fall short of God’s glory—we can’t give God the righteousness He deserves and requires, yet believers are “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation [sin offering] by His blood, through faith.” “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Acts 3:19    Ephesians 2:8-9    Hebrews 10:14    Romans 3:24-25    Romans 10:9
