The beautiful wedding invitation arrived in the mail, along with the RSVP card to be mailed back to let the couple know if you planned to accept or decline the invitation to the reception. The RSVP card gave a deadline for responding—a few weeks prior to the wedding. Any who failed to return the RSVP basically refused the invitation. Failure to accept an invitation is equivalent to declining. Imagine the disappointment of those who issue the invitation when someone they love fails to accept the invitation.

Jesus has issued an invitation to each of us—an invitation to become part of His family and spend eternity with Him. Because we are sinners by birth, we cannot enter heaven without receiving the gift of forgiveness and eternal life offered by Jesus through His shed blood, death, and resurrection.

“Whoever believes in Him [Jesus] will receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:43).

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lordshall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

“The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37).

Jesus’ invitation does not give a date for your decision to be made; however, once you die, the window of opportunity to respond is closed. In 2 Corinthians 6:2, God requests your response today: “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

This is one invitation you don’t want to decline. RSVP to Jesus’ invitation today.
