Please take a moment to read a righteous veteran’s plea for you.
You thank me for my service. I’d just like to thank you for your attention.
I’d like to take a moment out of your day to tell you a story about HOPE and HAPPINESS. A testimony I never thought I’d have to tell you, but I do now! A journey that brought me from a hateful IRAQ COMBAT VETERAN to the man I am today, a humble and God-fearing man.
I deployed twice within my time of service in the U.S. Army. I’ve seen evil no one should have to see or deal with. And I see now that in every step of my life, when I couldn’t push thru it on my own, God carried me. I was an atheist, a non-believer. I was someone who needed evidence in my lap before I’d believe in God’s existence. I was a skeptical person. I saw with my own eyes the evil this world is capable of doing. I would say, “If there is a God, why is there not instant judgement for their wrongdoing.”
I was stubborn, unforgiving, and most of all I was judgmental to everyone I came across—including my own family. I HATED so many people for no reason. Shortly after getting out of the army I was employed as a federal employee on the civilian side. I was struck down financially and emotionally during a government shutdown where I went without pay for 6 weeks. I was living paycheck to paycheck with a negative balance in my bank account. I had no savings and I was told to report to work with no pay.
The struggle I experienced didn’t bother me. I was used to hardship, but the look on my son’s face when he said he was hungry and I knew I had no money for food—this tore me apart! I felt like the worst father ever. I was broken physically and spiritually. I sold everything I owned that I did not need to survive. I was sleeping on a floor in a small apartment, lost and feeling alone.
Completely broken, I cried out for help and GOD led me to one of His children—a co-worker of mine. At the time, I was still not believing in God, and I clashed with her when it came to life views. She asked me to read the Bible. Being the skeptic I was, I thought: “Alright, I will—but I’m going to prove Christianity wrong. I’m going to prove her beliefs are wrong.” So I began reading the most important book I’ve ever read and ever will read in my life. GOD began to show himself to me through signs. Unbelievable signs. Unexplainable signs that pushed me to tears.
This book immediately pointed out my sins—as if God was speaking directly to me—so I could be cleansed of my sinful ways. I felt the weight of the world lift off my shoulders when I found Jesus Christ. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, I removed myself from my sins. I repented and claimed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I ask that you please put your stigmas of church behind you and find the people around you who walk with GOD. Jesus spoke of hypocrisy in the church; please don’t let the actions of some people skew your outlook on GOD.
I’m sure you have always wondered why we are so depressed, or why you’re sad, or why you have this feeling of darkness that won’t go away. That feeling of darkness is the result of the sin in which we are bathing. To be free, clean, and happy, you must be separated from the dirt you’ve been covering yourself in. Whether it’s “big” sins or “just a little lie” that is unknown by those around you—all sin drags us down.
We are all sinners, and things like lying, stealing, and cheating are bound up in our hearts. But there is a Saviour—a Prince of Peace—Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins. When He laid down His life, He willingly bore the punishment our sins deserve. When He rose from the dead, He proved Himself to be the Son of God who can conquer sin and death!
We need him more today than ever before. You and I need Him individually to rescue us from our sin. Society needs Him, because until we relate to one another according to His teaching, our culture will continue getting more and more evil. Society has portrayed followers of Christ as weak and fragile people, but we are strong inside and out! I’ve never been this happy in my entire life and I have no materialistic possessions to show for it.
God blesses me when I walk like Christ. I’m not ashamed of who I am in Christ and you shouldn’t be either! I Pray that you find your way out from the shadows that cover you. Ask for GOD’S help! GOD loves you! You are an amazing creation—you are NOT some evolutionary accident.
Think of this before you throw away my love letter to you: we see a building and we know there was a builder, because the building is in front of us, right?! We see an amazing painting and we know—without a doubt—there was an artist who painted it, right?! So why do we see all the beautiful, colorful, and intelligent creations on this earth and think that there is no creator??!! You mean so much to God!! He will never leave you. From one of God’s creatures to another, I love you!! And may God Bless you! Thank you for your time!
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
