“And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” Matthew 8:20

In this verse we see Jesus stating that He has no place to lay His head. The animals have homes, but Jesus didn’t. Jesus would stay where He could find room. He would stay with friends like Lazarus and his sisters. He even went to a tax collector’s house to eat.

Friend, is that your situation?

Do you have a place to call home? You travel and sleep where you can, eat where you can, and live where you can, but truthfully you have nowhere to lay your head? You may be living day to day, trying your best to live and do what it takes to survive. You are tired from struggling and worn out from trying to stay warm and fed. Maybe there are times you eat and maybe there are times you don’t.

I have good news for you! Jesus knows what it is like to have nowhere to lay your head—no real place to call home. He has been where you are today. The God of the Bible, the Creator of all things, was homeless as well. He left His home in Heaven to come here to earth to live among us. Immanuel: God with us. He knows what it is like to live in places that are not home and with people that are not family nor familiar. Friend, listen …

Jesus loves you as you are.

The Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He loves you and died for you as you are. Maybe you think you are not that important or you don’t matter. But to Jesus, you do matter. Just as Jesus had compassion on a multitude of 5,000 and fed them, He has compassion for you.

One day, friend, this life will be over with all its hardships and struggles. The days of trying to sleep and eat and survive will be over. My question for you is: are you spiritually homeless?

Do you have a home in Heaven with Jesus?

If you died tonight, would you be forever at Home?

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Are you tired from all you do? You can be tired physically and emotionally and spiritually, but Jesus will give you rest. He says in John 7:37, “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.” Are you thirsting in your spirit and need something to satisfy? Jesus is the answer.

In Revelation 22:17, the Bible says “The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

Are you hungering in your soul and need to be fed? Jesus says in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst.” And in John 6:48, Jesus says again, “I am that bread of life.”

Friend, Jesus says in John 14:1-2 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

He has a forever home for all of us. We will never not have a place to call home or lay our head again.

How do we get to live forever in Heaven?

1. We must acknowledge that we are sinners. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

2. Remember that God loves you as you are (John 3:16).

3. Believe Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins, and rose again to give you new life. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

4. There is nothing we can do apart from Jesus to go to Heaven. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

5. Call upon God to forgive you and accept Him into your life. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Today, will you repent of your sins, believe on the Lord, and receive that forever home in Heaven? We sure do love you and pray that one day we will be together in our Father’s home.
