How great is the misery of those who continue in bondage to sin and Satan, and refuse Christ!
Satan, with cruel oppression, wears people out with their bondage to lusts, and rewards their sinful life with everlasting misery. And yet, how few are weary of their sin and willing to come to Christ!
In the Gospel, Jesus Christ gives relief from sin and gives rest—and His rest is glorious (Isaiah 11:10).
Sadly, few move towards Christ, but are willing to be a perpetual slave to their sins and that cruel tyrant, the devil. Oh, when will sinners be tired of their bondage to sin and search for their deliverance?
If any poor soul wants to be delivered, let them know that the Lord Jesus Christ is merciful and will never condemn the penitent sinner who comes to Him for mercy. He Himself said that “the one who comes to Me I will never cast out” (John 6:37).
Have you experienced salvation through Christ? All of Christ’s people are rescued “from the domain of darkness” (Colossians 1:13).
The devil is called the ruler of the darkness of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). His subjects are all blind, otherwise he could never rule them. As soon as their eyes are opened by Christ, they flee from the devil’s kingdom and the devil cannot keep them in bondage to himself any longer.
Oh, look into life’s greatest opportunity and see to it that you are brought out of darkness and “into His [Christ’s] marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
• Do you see your condition, how sad, miserable, and ruined it is by nature?
• Do you see that your remedy is only in Christ and in His precious blood? “The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
• Do you see that the only way of obtaining the benefits of the shed blood of Christ is by faith?
Having been “justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
