A passport is usually required to travel from one country to another. Having that document proves who you are, and where you belong. If we want to go to Heaven, we also need to be prepared. Only those who are children of God will be allowed into His glorious home.

How can we gain admittance to Heaven? First, we must realize that God has a high standard for who may enter. The Bible says, “For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome” (Psalm 5:4).

Next, we need to understand that because of our sin, all of us are unfit for God’s presence: “There is no one righteous, not even one … all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:10,23).

The good news is that God provided the way for our sin to be removed! He sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty our sins deserve. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He opened the way to Heaven.

To gain the benefit of what Jesus did for you and me, we must turn from our rebellion against God, and by faith put our trust in Jesus: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Romans 10:9-10).

When we put our trust in Jesus, He gives us a new heart with new desires, and His presence will be with us. “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:15-17).

Are you ready for the forgiveness and new life God offers to you? Talk to him now in your own words. It may sound something like this:

Father God, I come to You through Your Son, Jesus, just as I am. I repent of my sins. In Your Name I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, all evil spirits, and their works. Jesus, I receive You as my Lord, God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul and spirit. Come, Lord Jesus, cover me with Your precious blood and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I thank You, Jesus. I give my entire self to You, and I shall follow You every day of my life.

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.’”
(Matthew 16:24)

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19)

Now you can claim a new life by sharing the narrow path with Jesus. He will personally guide you to your new home, to live with Him, in Heaven, forever!!
