Have Another Piece Of Cake: The Sad State Of The Church In America
Special-Order Folded Tract
With countless unsaved people in our communities, the church's response falls short. Are we truly heeding Christ's command to "preach the gospel to every creature," or are we simply enjoying cake and comfortable fellowship? A challenge to move beyond comfortable Sunday routines.

Have Another Piece Of Cake: The Sad State Of The Church In America
In America, going to church is something many people do on Sundays.
Of the many different churches, some do preach salvation correctly:
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
But the next verse says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14).
Sadly, to many Christians, “serving the Lord” means sitting in church one hour, then going to a restaurant. We all need to do more than that.
Many of us have health problems and are in pain. This should remind us of the terrible pain and suffering the Lord Jesus suffered on the cross as He, as the “Lamb of God,” paid for our sins. Whatever our situation in life is, there are likely things each of us can do to share the gospel with others.
Some churches have social events. Some celebrate birthdays with cake and ice cream. There’s nothing wrong with these things, but there is a world of unsaved people all around us … little children that were never taken to Sunday school, teenagers living it up and getting involved in all sorts of things they shouldn’t, and many just going about their daily lives and trying to keep up with the bills.
In Mark 16:15, Jesus said,
“Go ye into all the world, and preach
the gospel to every creature.”
There are things each of us can do.
It may be as simple as inviting a few neighborhood children to Sunday school. And what about your unsaved relatives and neighbors? Hell is not going to be a nice place for any of them. Those who live along a road could probably put up a legal roadside sign with Bible verses on it.
The bottom line is: Our world is burning, and the church is fiddling!
So the next time you’re at your church for some happy social event, will you think about all the lost unsaved people headed for an eternity of suffering, or maybe just have another piece of cake?
