God 101: A Basic Course On How To Be Saved

GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION

Our current world is in a terrible state of confusion on nearly all matters, both great and small. There seems to be virtually no agreement on what is right or not right, how to be happy and/or successful in life, how we can have a world that is a good world, and on and on the list can go. But the Bible assures us that:

“God is not the author of confusion” (1 Corinthians 14:33, KJV).

None of this confusion comes from him. And he would love nothing more than to end it for all of us.

GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF “RULES”

This may come as a surprise to some, but it is a very easy concept about God. God does not give arbitrary rules just to control you. First, consider a promise that he makes to all of us:

“The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right” (Psalm 84:11, NLT).

Next, what does it mean if you are then told not to engage in certain types of behavior? It simply means that it is not good for you! There is nothing written in the Bible that is there for any other reason than your own best welfare. And to help you to consider other people’s best welfare also.

God is not the author of just “a bunch of rules.” He seeks only your best welfare in everything that he says or does. And even when judgments did fall, it only happened once there was no other remedy:

“The Lord is ... patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9, ESV).

Enough of what God is not. Our next point to talk about might seem difficult—and that is because there are a lot of things that God is. But in a God 101 class we will just list one thing:

GOD IS … ALWAYS AVAILABLE!

Yes, it is important that we have Jesus seeking to be our Savior—and dealing with our issues of death and sinfulness. But it does not stop there. Sometimes people miss the truth that he is not just saving you so you can go to heaven. He also wants to be your daily personal savior, helping you with your concerns in this present life also. And where you can put all your life’s issues on the table before him, each and every day.

You don’t become ‘saved’ just to be with God in a future hereafter. You can have Jesus as your daily personal Savior starting right now, where you can:

“Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, ISV). He is always available!

SO ... YOUR DECISION?

What are you dealing with today? If there is confusion in your life, it is not because God put it there. He wants to remove it. And there is nothing in the Bible that is there to just be arbitrary rules. So, accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior has no special or complicated rules to follow either:

“Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7, ESV).

Is it the desire in your heart to have a Creator that can now act as your daily personal Savior—and to be involved in all of your life’s problems? Then just let him know (from your heart) that is how you feel. He is both willing and able to do the rest.
