“In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). God created mankind to have fellowship with Him, but Adam and Eve sinned against God by disobeying His command. But our God, being merciful, doesn’t like to see any of His special creation perish. He sent His one and only son JESUS to redeem us all. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many: and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him” (Hebrews 9:27-28). Salvation is free—for those who believe. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). Jesus, the Son of God has paid the price for us. He bought us with His blood and redeemed us from the enslavement to sin and death.

So how can we be saved? “If you declare with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Romans 10:9-10). Faith is the key to salvation. Jesus died for our sins. Jesus, who being in very nature God, took the form of man, and died on the cross to deliver us from the clutches of sin and to reconcile us with God. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

What is the most precious thing you can ask for in this world? Being a child of God! If we are children of God by faith in Jesus Christ, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).

Please accept the free gift of salvation. You don’t have to pay anything—Jesus already did. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Turn to God today and put your total trust in Jesus Christ. You may want to express your faith to God in a prayer like this:

Heavenly Father, I know I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sin and that you love me. Jesus, I ask you to forgive me and come into my heart and life as my Lord and Savior. Make me a new creation. Give me the grace to live a holy life. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
