Has anyone ever accused you of Telling a lie?
Well, whether the accusation was accurate or not, at some point in your life you have most likely told a lie, stretched the truth, or misrepresented the truth. People lie for numerous reasons, and one of those reasons is “The fear of man” (Proverbs 29:25a). No matter what the circumstances were, you may have lied to put yourself in a better light in the eyes of others. Because you have lied, your eternal destination is hell fire, and rightly so. The Bible tells us that “all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:” (Revelation 21:8).
Therefore, you need a new birth because your first birth gave you a sinful nature: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The Lord Jesus Christ likens salvation in this age to a new birth, which is the only requirement for entry into heaven, as He said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). The question you may be asking yourself now is, “Well how can I be born again?” The good news is that it’s simple! Your first birth didn’t require any of your merit, and like your first birth, being born again doesn’t require any of your merit either. It requires you only to trust in Jesus Christ: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
You see, the Lord Jesus Christ lived a perfect life which you could never live or attain, as “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;” (Isaiah 64:6). The Lord Jesus Christ died in your place, so you don’t have to pay for your sins in hell for all eternity! The following reinforces this truth:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement” (Romans 5:8-11).
Many say that life is a gift, and that may be true, but so is the new birth, as nobody works for a gift! “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work” (Romans 11:6). Friend, you are not guaranteed the next hour, day, week, or month.
If you died today, would you wake up in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ or in hell with the devil and his angels?
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).
The Lord Jesus Christ is your only hope, and He’s the only one who can give you the new birth. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior by faith today, because the alternative will be eternity in hell. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13)
