1. Your Free Ticket to Heaven
There was a man named Nicodemus. He was a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night, and they had a conversation about being born again. Jesus said to him, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Nicodemus was confused and puzzled about how someone could be born again. Jesus explained to him that we are all born of the flesh, but once we are born of the Spirit, we become a new creature (John 3:6).
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). No one can enter Heaven unless they have been born again of the Spirit, because “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”
(Romans 3:23). Jesus gave His Life for us, washed our sins away with His own precious blood, and hung on the Old Rugged Cross. He died and was buried, but He arose on the third day, so that we too can arise and spend eternity in Heaven with the Great I AM. Jesus conquered death! As He was dying on the cross, He spoke these words, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). Jesus took our place on that cross. He lived a sinless life and willingly sacrificed His life to save us. Oh, how He loves us!
For someone to be born again, all they would have to do is confess their sins, believe that Jesus Christ died for all their sins, and ask Him to be the Savior of their life. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
2. Forever God’s Child
Once you are saved and born again, your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and nothing can erase your name from that book (John 10:28). We are forever God’s children, and He loves us so much. When we believe and accept Jesus’ free gift of salvation, we are still sinners but saved by God’s Great Grace (Ephesians 2:4-5). We still live in the flesh and face temptations from the world, but even when we do sin, we now have an advocate with the Father: our Savior, Jesus Christ (1 John 2:1-2).
Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice: He died on the cross for our sins, so that we could spend eternity with Him in Heaven though we are sinful. Jesus sends us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to dwell in us, guide us to be more like Jesus, and help us in times of trouble.
3. Starting a New Life as a Child of God
As we start our new life in Christ, we should have a desire to daily read His Love Letter, the Bible (Colossians 3:16). We are to be planters and waterers of His Word (1 Corinthians 3:6-9). We are to be witnesses for Him (Proverbs 11:30, Matthew 28:19) and keep the faith. We need to press for the mark (Philippians 3:14), fight the good fight of faith (2 Timothy 4:7), and be good soldiers of the cross (2 Timothy 2:1-4).
No matter how old you are, it is never too early and never too late to serve our Savior and accept His free gift of salvation. Our life is so short compared to eternity, so we ought to serve Christ every single day (James 4:14). As we become sons and daughters of God, we will still have trials and tribulations, but God has overcome the world (John 16:33).
4. Getting to Know Your Heavenly Father
Some things to consider as you begin your journey:
1. Who is God? He is the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, the Great I AM, and we are created in His image (Genesis 1:26).
2. God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18).
3. There is no greater love than the love of Christ (John 15:13).
4. We cannot earn our salvation; it is a free gift (Ephesians 2:8-9).
5. We are to love one another as God has loved us (John 13:34-35).
Study the Bible to know how much He loves you! May God bless you as you serve Him on your journey home to Heaven!
