Several years ago, a movement was begun, claiming God had died. “God is dead” was a familiar saying.

God really DID die one day, but He didn’t stay in the grave!

He is very much alive now—forever! Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of God, lived on earth about 2000 years ago. His claim to being God—considered “blasphemy” by the hierarchy, brought about a sentence of death on a cross, a Roman-style punishment in which criminals were nailed to a cross and left to die of asphyxiation. Victims of this cruel practice endured muscle spasms that made it impossible to breathe, unless they could push themselves up with their legs to relieve the cramping in their chest. A tortuous way to die!

But, Jesus Christ suffered MUCH more than physical pain!

“He [God the Father] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus Christ paid the penalty for ALL the sin of ALL people for ALL time when He was on that cross! It is unimaginable what HE suffered, hanging there for six hours, paying the price for your sin and mine!

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

But it was all God’s perfect plan—the Son of God on the cross, dying for the sin of the people who had no other way to be justified in the sight of a holy, righteous God! Just before Jesus died, He cried out “It is FINISHED!”—a triumphant cry!

The plan to save sinners was complete!

Three days later, He arose from the grave, and showed Himself to His followers, who were filled with incredible joy when they recognized their living Lord! Some days later, He ascended to Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father, interceding on our behalf!

“Therefore He [Jesus Christ] is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25).

If you want to be forgiven and justified before a Holy God, simply tell Him, in prayer, that you know you have sinned and that you realize that Jesus paid for your sin, then ask Him to come into your life and thank Him for dying for you!! When you truly trust what He has done for you, and accept His forgiveness, you are instantly His child, on your way to Heaven!

Believe today!! You won’t regret it!
