Ten Powerful Principles that Prove that the Christian is Eternally Secure in the Savior Jesus Christ

1. Nothing we could Ever Do could Earn us a Spot in Heaven

Even Our Best is our Worst

Isaiah 64:6 – “We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.”

Everyone is Evil, Including You

Romans 3:23 – “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

2. We can Only be Saved by Trusting in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Master

John 1:9-13 – “[Christ] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

We Have Everlasting Life through Jesus Christ

John 3:3, 6-7 – “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.… That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

John 3:13-21 – “No man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

John 3:35-36 – “The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

We Must Confess our Sin, Trust Christ, and be Saved

Romans 10:1-13, esp. vv. 4, 9-10, 13 – “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth… That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

3. Everlasting Life is a Free, Undeserved, and Unearnable Gift to the One Who Trusts in Christ

Romans 6:23 – “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

4. Eternal Life is Secured by a One-Time Act of Faith in Christ

Once Born, Forever Reborn

John 3:3 – “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Christ is the Endless Spring of Eternal Life

John 4:7-10, 13 & 14 – “There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water… Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Christ has Promised Never to Let the Believer Become Lost Again

John 6:37, 39-40, 44 – “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out… And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day… No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Eternal Life is Ours, Now and Forever

John 6:54 - “Whoso [symbolically] eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

We are Inescapably and Irrevocably Christ’s, as He is God’s!

John 10:27-29 – “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

5. The Christian has been Unalterably Predestined to Eternal Life by God

Christians are Foreknown with an Intimate Foreknowledge, Predestinated to Redemption, Called by a Universal Call, Justified by their Personal Faith in Christ, and Granted the Promise of Ultimate Glorification!

Romans 8:28-30 – “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”

Christians are Elected by the Foreknowledge and Good Pleasure of the Father, Regardless of our Personal Merits or Good Works

Romans 11:5-6 – “At this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”

6. The Christian is Sealed for Heaven the Moment he Trusts Christ for Salvation

The Spirit is the Guarantee of the Believer’s Salvation

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 – “He which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”

The Believer’s Redemption is Guaranteed in the Spirit

Ephesians 1:3-14, esp. vv. 13 & 14 – In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

7. Christ’s Sacrifice Saves Forever – it Cannot and Need Not Be Repeated

Hebrews 9:11-15 – “Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.”

8. God’s Unchangeable Faithfulness Keeps the Born-again Believer Saved!

God is a Faithful God

2 Thessalonians 3:1-5, esp. v. 3 – “The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”

God is Faithful, Whether We’re Faithful or Not

2 Timothy 2:11-13 – “If we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him [His reign in our life], he also will deny us [His blessing in our life]: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.”

9. The Believer is Made Just in God’s Eyes, Not by the Keeping of the Law, but by the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Faith in Christ, not Works of the Law, Brings Justification to the Believer

Galatians 2:16 – “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Complete Obedience to the Law is Impossible, Making Christ’s Sacrifice Our Only Hope

Galatians 3:10-11 – “As many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.”

10. The Christian can KNOW, Beyond Any Doubt, that they Have Eternal Life with God – and This would Not be True if they were Not Eternally Secure!

John 3:36 – “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

John 6:47 – “He that believeth on [Christ] hath everlasting life.”

1 John 5:11-13 – “This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

By Confessing your Sins to God, Acknowledging the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ to Make You Holy Before God, and Inviting Christ to Save your Soul and Rule your Life, You Can KNOW Beyond Any Doubt, that you are Saved, and Secured to Eternal Life Forever!

God in Heaven, I confess that I am a sinner. I acknowledge that my sins have condemned me to an eternal Hell. I affirm that Jesus Christ died to pay for my sins, and that He rose from the dead, and is seated with You in Heaven. I humbly ask that you’d forgive me of my sins. Here and now, I ask that the Lord Jesus Christ would come into my heart, cleanse me of my sins, take control of my life, and save my soul! Thank you for your salvation! Amen!
