My Story: The Story That Changed My Life
I was distraught.
I knew I was lost. I searched for an answer. Is there a God?? I received a letter from my friend asking for prayer for her niece’s baby who was sick. I called out to God in anger. If you ARE real, SHOW ME!
I went to a phone booth to call a priest. My friend, I knew I had not been living right. I knew it was sin. (I did not know then that the Bible says, “BE SURE YOUR SIN WILL FIND YOU OUT!”). I was calling for a priest to give me the truth, but there was no answer at the phone booth.
Who is God? Is He real? The phone kept ringing. I started to scream out to God in anger! I cursed the Lord for not answering my prayer!
As I was weeping , a man knocked on the door of the phone booth. I opened the door, angry at being disturbed by this man.
Smiling , he asked, “Hi, do you know God?”
Amazed at his question, I shyly stated “Um, NO, can you show me who God is?”
This is the story he told me, the story that changed my life.
“God, the Father, the Creator of all, created man in His own image. He gave him a free will, to willingly obey Him and willingly follow Him. The first humans, sadly, chose to reject Him, bringing the curse of sin into the world. Now, because of our sin nature, our physical bodies die.”
That sin nature had me in a deep state of despair, angry and with no hope!! Until I heard with my heart the things this man told me. First, he told me that he and his wife had been in my area all day handing out tracts and literature for his church. It was late, so they went home. His wife realized she had lost her pocketbook. They were hungry and tired but started to backtrack their steps. He saw me in the phone booth, and said he almost audibly heard the Lord say to him, “This person needs me.” That’s when he came knocking on the phone booth door.
My dear reader, if you might be searching as I was, please listen with your heart these words, the words which this man gave to me that day.
Take these words from the Lord to heart.
JOHN 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him [Jesus] should not perish but have everlasting life.”
ROMANS 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
ROMANS 6:23 “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
JOHN 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through Me.”
JOHN 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”
JOHN 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life.”
My dear reader:
May you hear these words that promise forgiveness from sin through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, who willingly gave up his life for us (you).
Today, will you receive the Lord Jesus’s death on the cross as taking your place? Admit you are a sinner. Repent of your sin in prayer to God. Believe and ask the Lord Jesus to be your Savior.
You are loved dear reader.
