You are not alone.
Even Paul, a holy man and leader from the 1st century, wrote:
“For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing … Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:19, 24).
Paul realized he was enslaved to sin:
“Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? … But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? … For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:16, 21, 23).
WHO WILL SET YOU FREE?
But Paul found a way to break his chains and escape the curse of death:
“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Jesus, the Son of God, explained how this could be:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
I AM FREE
Even while in prison, Paul knew he was free, because Jesus had promised:
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).
Paul could then tell believers:
“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord” (Ephesians 5:8).
Step into the light of Jesus and be free indeed!
