Heaven Is Real
“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Mark 8:36-37
Most people spend their entire lives “chasing shadows”—trying to gain the world’s wealth and fame—only to find it escapes their grasp. Even those who manage to grab on to some of what this world can offer eventually find that it leaves them unfulfilled and wanting more.
God’s word warns us that if we get distracted chasing temporary things, we may miss out on riches that last forever. Heaven is real!
The world we see is coming to an end. But its pleasures and temptations can make us forget that we must one day give account to God for how we lived while on earth.
Jesus talked about a rich man who lived his life with no care for what comes after. He was only concerned with gathering riches and living for the here and now. When he died, he found himself “in torments”—separated from God forever. Awakened to this great reality, he begged for someone to warn his family, so they would not face the same fate (Luke 16:19-31).
The spirit of God is using this opportunity to tell you that Heaven is real. Now is the time for you to realize the importance of where you will spend eternity, and decide to take a step toward Heaven.
Because of our sin, none of us are ready for heaven. But God loves us so much that he made the way for us to be made new and prepared for his presence.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son [Jesus], that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Jesus laid down his life and suffered the punishment our sins deserve. Three days later he rose from the dead, proving his power over sin and death. Now you can have the privilege of knowing that your sins are forgiven and that you will spend eternity in Heaven.
STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE
1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner.
“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
2. Decide to turn from your sin to God.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). “God … now commandeth all men every where to repent” (Acts 17:30).
3. Put your trust in Jesus Christ.
“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).
To learn more about God’s ways, make time to read the Bible daily (Joshua 1:8, Psalms 1:2). Ask God for help to find a local church that values and preaches the word of God.
