Every relationship begins with excitement and dreams. You may have met, fallen in love, and begun building a life together—but even the strongest couples eventually discover something important: love alone cannot carry the full weight of life.

Arguments happen. Trust gets strained. Expectations go unmet. Even when you deeply care about each other, something still feels missing. The Bible says relationships were never meant to stand alone.

God’s Design for Marriage & Love

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” — Genesis 2:24

God created relationships to reflect His love. A couple is not just two individuals — it is a union designed to be centered on Him. When God is missing, couples often try to get from each other what only God can provide: identity, security, peace, and purpose.

The Real Problem Beneath Relationship Struggles

The Bible explains the root issue clearly: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

Sin separates us from God—and when we are disconnected from our Creator, we struggle to truly love each other the way we were meant to.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23

God’s Solution: Jesus Christ

God did not abandon us. Instead, He stepped into our world. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16

Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. Through Him, forgiveness, peace, and a new beginning are possible—not just individually, but as a couple.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…not by works, so that no one can boast.”— Ephesians 2:8-9

What Happens When a Couple Comes to Christ

“…if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Christ does not make couples perfect—but He makes them new. He teaches forgiveness, humility, patience, and sacrificial love.

A Prayer You Can Pray Together:

Lord Jesus, we know we have sinned and cannot fix our lives on our own. We believe You died for our sins and rose again. Today we ask You to forgive us, change us, and become the center of our relationship. Teach us to love each other the way You love us. We trust You as our Savior and choose to follow You together. Amen.

Your Next Steps As a Couple

  • Begin praying together daily—even briefly.
  • Read one chapter of the Bible together each day (start with the Gospel of John).
  • Find a Bible‑teaching church.
  • Ask God to guide your decisions, not just your emotions.

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15 A relationship centered on feelings can fail. A relationship centered on Christ can endure.
