Why do we die?
The question has never been, “Will we die?” It has always been, “When will we die?” There is no denying we are all on our way to death. Even as you read this you are in the process of dying. According to the Word of God, not only will we die physically BUT our soul will die in the second death...Why is it that we all have an appointment with death? Here is what God’s Word states:
Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death...”
Romans 3:10-12 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
The LORD says that it is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgement...
Revelation 20:12-15 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Why did Christ Jesus die?
Another question that rings out in the human heart is, “Why did He die?” or “Why would He die?” The answer is LOVE! He loves you and will not leave you to death... The fact that you are reading this is evidence of His love! God is holy and righteous. He is light and in Him is no darkness at all. He could not draw near to us who have chosen sin. So He sent His righteous Son who deserves no death to die our death for us. He died our death and was raised up from the grave after three days. He comes to you in this moment, offering you His righteousness and His life.
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Why will you die?
We have answered two of the most critical life questions. The third is the most crucial of all. WHY WILL YOU DIE? If Christ, the sinless Son of God, has taken the punishment for your sin and desires to give you the gift of eternal life...why will you die? The answer is this, because you will to... You will only die the second death and spend eternity in the torments of hell if you decide to do so. Some say they can’t believe in a God who would throw people into hell, but I say I cannot believe in people who throw away the greatest of all loves and the free gift of eternal life...The Lord Jesus Christ has given ALL to keep you from Hell. He has done all except for take away your free will. He will not force you into heaven. You must choose Him! Hear Him as He pleads with you...
Ezekiel 33:11 “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”
Romans 10:8-10 “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
TURN YE... TURN YE!
If you would like to know that you are forever saved and that you are going to heaven when this life is over all you need to do is pray to the LORD. Confess yourself a sinner... Declare that you are turning away from your sin. Confess Him as the Lord and Savior; believing Christ died and rose up from the grave to pay for your sins. Ask Him to come into your heart and be your LORD and Savior. Speak with your mouth...with sincerity.
Call upon the LORD and He has promised you will be saved!
