“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Hebrews 9:27)

Do you know that at some point in the future you will die? Just as many of your family, friends and acquaintances have. Your body will go to the grave when you die, but what will happen to your eternal soul and spirit?

Without Jesus Christ in your life, the Bible says that after death you will face judgment for the wrong things you have done.

“Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)

Reality Check

Why risk eternity? You know exactly when you were born because of your birth certificate. But do you know when you will die?

How can we really know? Some of us may not make it home today. Why do we see crosses and memorabilia placed on the side of roads where accidents took place? Because they did not make it to their destination. Consider this: While you are in the midst of life, you are headed toward death. Death can happen at any time.

What Should You Do to Gain Eternal Life With Jesus Christ?

Jesus laid down His life as a sacrifice to pay the price for your sin. He then rose from the dead and offers you forgiveness and eternal life. To receive this gift, you must repent (agree with God that you are a sinner), and put your faith (complete trust) in Jesus Christ to save you.

This is the message of faith that we proclaim: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation … For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-10,13).

Often when people put their faith in Christ, they pray something like this:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need to be saved. I am asking you to forgive me of all my sins and come into my heart and life to be my Lord and Savior. I believe that you died on the cross for me and that you alone can save me. I now trust you for my salvation. I pray this in Jesus’ precious name, amen.

What should you do now?

To start, you can read the Gospel of John in the New Testament. Once you finish, go on to read other books of the Bible as you grow in your relationship with Jesus.

Many like to remember the day they trusted Jesus to save them. That is the day you were born again. It is your spiritual birthday. You now have two birthdays! God bless you and welcome to the family of God!

“Oh death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)
