Tired of Feeling Used and Abused?

But through all the pain, are you still searching for Prince Charming? I was and here’s my story …

At 5 years old my sister and I woke to a trail of blood in our house that lead to our mother’s night gown, where we learned from a neighbor our dad hit our mom and broke her nose.

At 8 we were kidnapped and taken across the country, never seeing our mother again.

At 15 I ran away from our abusive home on foot without anything but the clothing I was wearing.

At 18 my first husband was killed on a motorcycle.

At 23 I was abused by my second husband and had my son in the hospital by myself.

At 25 I was divorced raising 3 children while my ex husband broke into my home with his new girlfriend, and beat me in front of our sons.

And even through all the pain and abuse, I still had dreams of finding the prince charming I learned of watching the movie Cinderella as a little girl. It was in that movie that the prince took her away from mean people. He swept her off her feet to a wonderful kingdom where there was no fear and no abuse—only love and protection from all the mean and evil in the world. Unfortunately there is no perfect world where that prince exists. Right?

Or so I thought, until one day I had enough of the world and found the One who would really take care of me, protect me, and keep me from abuse—Jesus! He is the One who promises to be true and faithful to us. How do I know this? Revelation 21:4 (this is in Heaven).

Read Numbers 23:19 and Psalm 91:1-2. No matter what people may do to us, God is our protector and defender. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 we read that Jesus is coming again for His bride—that’s you and me! If we follow Him.

And what does Jesus ask of us? All we need to do is trust in Jesus! “By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Yes, trust in Jesus and He does the rest. To enjoy His peace, we also need to trust Him with our lives and do what His word says.

Jesus has turned my life around and it was by the power of God, not of me! He was calling me through all those messed up relationships and abuse! He was always there for me, just waiting for me to realize He was!

Now my life is better and more peaceful, without drama and without abuse! I have forgiven all those who have hurt me and I have changed my goals for life. I have a godly husband finally, who wants what’s best for me. He loves me and Jesus loves me!
