Where Are You Going When You Die?
This question is of course referring to your soul. We know that the body goes to the grave in one form or another. Where will your soul be the moment your body breathes its last breath? Jesus Christ said “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)
The Holy Bible tells us that there are only two places your soul can end up after it departs from your body: heaven or hell. Jesus Christ spoke of a lost rich man that died and went to hell: “…the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments…” (Luke 16:22-23) The scriptures also tell us about a saved man’s soul departing the body: “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)
Because “…all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23), sinners trusting in their own righteousness and good works end up in hell. “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” (Romans 10:3) But sinners that receive God’s free gift of salvation by faith will go to heaven. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…” (Titus 3:5)
God Almighty is “…not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) This is what the creator of the heavens and earth has done to keep you out of hell: God became man, the Lord Jesus Christ “…great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh…” (1 Timothy 3:16), He lived a perfect sinless life “…but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15), died on the cross for our sins and resurrected from the dead.
“…I declare unto you the gospel… For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:1, 3-4)
God’s plan of salvation is simple: if you will believe the gospel and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will be saved. No amount of good works or religious activities (baptism, tithing, etc.) will help save you. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” (Ephesians 1:7)
At this moment, will you trust only in Jesus Christ for the salvation of your soul?
“…Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:30-31)
The Holy Bible makes it clear that sinners who trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour can have assurance of their salvation, and KNOW where they are going when they die.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:13)
What Is Your Decision?
I choose to RECEIVE the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
-OR-
I choose to REJECT the Lord Jesus Christ and pay for my own sin.
“…he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:16
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:” 2 Thessalonians 1:8
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31
